Understand how bookings work
A booking reserves one of your spaces for a customer for a set time. This article explains the journey a booking takes, from the moment a customer books to the day of the session.

Where bookings come from
| Channel | How it works |
|---|---|
| Your Showcase | Customers choose a space, pick a date, start time and duration, enter their details, add extras and pay online. See What customers see on your Showcase. |
| Point of Sale (POS) | You create the booking for a walk-in or phone customer and send them a payment link or bank account to pay into. See Create a POS booking. |
On your Earnings page, transactions are labelled by channel — for example Walk-in or Showcase website.
Requests and Instant Book
Each space has a Booking confirmation setting:
- Booking Request — you review and approve each booking before it's confirmed. The customer pays when they book, and the booking waits for your answer. You have a limited time to respond.
- Instant Book — eligible bookings are confirmed automatically without waiting for your approval.
See Instant Book vs booking requests.
A booking's journey
- The customer books and is taken to pay. Until payment is complete, the booking is Awaiting payment. If it isn't paid, it expires.
- If the space uses booking requests, the paid booking becomes Awaiting approval and appears under Bookings → Requests. You accept or decline it before the response time runs out.
- An accepted or instantly confirmed booking is Upcoming.
- While the session is in progress it's Active, and afterwards it's Completed.
Along the way, a booking can be declined (Rejected), cancelled by you or the guest, rescheduled by agreement, or expire. See Understand booking statuses.
