What is a booking deposit?
Also called: Advance payment, Prepayment
A booking deposit is part of the price paid in advance to hold a booking, with the balance due later; some spaces instead take the full price when the customer books.
A deposit commits the customer and protects the owner if they cancel late or do not turn up. Its weakness is the balance: someone still has to collect it, and a no-show leaves only the deposit.
Hourly spaces increasingly take the full amount at booking. It removes the chasing, and the cancellation policy decides what comes back if plans change.
A deposit is different from a caution deposit, which is held against damage and returned after the booking.
How Superspace handles it
Superspace takes the full booking amount when the customer books, rather than a part deposit, and refunds follow the space's cancellation policy. See How customers pay.
Common questions
Is it better to take a deposit or full payment for a space booking?
For hourly bookings, full payment at booking is simpler: nothing to chase, and no-shows are already paid for. Deposits make more sense for large events booked months ahead.
Can I take a part deposit on Superspace?
Not today. Superspace takes the full amount when the customer books. Refunds follow the space's cancellation policy.
