What is a cancellation policy?
Also called: Refund policy
A cancellation policy sets how much a customer gets back if they cancel a booking, depending on how far ahead of the start time they cancel.
It protects time that becomes hard to resell close to the booking, while being fair to customers who cancel early. It only works if the customer sees it before paying and refunds follow it every time.
Common shapes:
- Flexible: full refund up to 24 hours before.
- Balanced: full refund 72 hours or more before, half between 24 and 72 hours.
- Strict or custom: your own windows, such as nothing back inside 48 hours.
Some spaces add a short grace period after booking, so a customer who books by mistake can cancel for free. See the booking policy template.
How Superspace handles it
In Superspace each space has its own cancellation policy: Flexible, Balanced (the default) or Custom, with up to ten refund windows and an optional free-cancellation grace period. Customers see it before they book, and refunds follow it. See Cancellation policies.
Common questions
What is a fair cancellation policy for a studio?
A common one is a full refund 72 hours or more before the booking and half back between 24 and 72 hours. Use stricter terms for event halls, where a late cancellation is harder to fill.
Can different spaces have different cancellation policies?
In Superspace, yes. Each space has its own policy.
