What is a double booking?

Also called: Overbooking

A double booking happens when two customers are booked into the same space for overlapping times, usually because bookings were taken in more than one place.

It is almost never one person's mistake. It happens when a WhatsApp booking, a phone booking and an online booking each live in a different place, and nobody can see all three at once.

The fix is structural, not more care:

  • Keep one calendar that every booking goes on, whatever the source.
  • Let customers book only from live availability.
  • Record walk-ins and phone bookings in the same system as online ones.
  • Block time for maintenance and private use instead of remembering it.

More in why your space keeps getting double booked.

How Superspace handles it

Superspace puts online, phone, DM and walk-in bookings on one calendar per space, and customers can only book times that are free. Blocked time is closed to bookings too.

Common questions

What should I do when a double booking happens?

Tell the customer who booked second as early as possible, offer another time or a full refund, and find where the second booking came from so the gap is closed.

Reading about it is the slow way.
